Formed under the Pacific Ocean, Big Sur Jade is not easy to obtain, and the best pieces are often only found by deep sea divers. Big Sur Jade’s scarcity increases value to those seeking unique crystals. It rarely presents itself in gem-quality form on the beaches of the Central Coast, but, when it does, its vibrant colors and luminosity flash turquoise, baby blue, green, black, and even white. Stones that are polished by ocean sands for eons are the most highly prized.
In this collection, Artisan Sherry Brajcich creates custom Big Sur Jade cluster rings reminiscent of the Southwest Zuni and Dineh pieces from the 1940’s-1960’s. Each piece is fabricated of noble metals, including sterling and fine silver; and may also be fashioned in gold of any color or carat percentage. The metals may be mixed as well, and bronze may even be used as the base plate with gold bezels for a rich deep brown patina behind warm gold.
As this would be a custom order, the process would begin with requesting a stone “set.” Some examples are provided in this listing. If you see something you like, or would like, feel free to reach out. The pricing for these rings could range between $895 and up, depending upon the metal and stone selection that you chose.
If you decide to place an order, after the initial stone “set” is agreed upon, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to proceed with the order. Initially, z ring sizer will be send to you to determine your size, and, before the ring is fashioned, a design would be produced for you to approve. Once you approve the design, expect a two to three week turnaround for the final piece to make its way to you.
Each piece is stamped with a maker’s mark, metal carat, and also an annotation with he words “Big Sur Jade.”
